Jim Dunkel, CFP®

My name is Jim Dunkel and I've spent more than 35 years in the financial services industry serving clients, many of whom have become great friends!
My main focus is educating clients about the importance of financial planning and helping them work toward their goals. We strive to find a balance of living a full life in the present, but also providing for a potentially long future. In addition to working directly with business owners and individuals over the years, I have taught numerous business courses, including graduate finance classes at the University of Mary - Fargo Center.
Outside of work, I enjoy playing guitar, coaching youth worship bands, and watching many sports. My wife Shari and I were high school sweethearts and married in 1983. Our son Steven is a pastor, our daughter-in-law Sarah is a talented musician (and also works with me!), and our much-younger son Isaac is a student, a gifted guitar player, and plays baseball. We are very blessed.

My name is Sarah Dunkel. In addition to being a Financial Planning Intern under Jim, I’m also his daughter-in-law!
I started my financial services journey as a client almost 10 years ago. I’ve seen first hand how important it is to set oneself up well financially and that’s why I’m excited to help others do the same. I believe it’s never too early (or too late) to start learning about how financial planning can help you pursue your goals!
My husband, Steven, is a pastor at Hope Lutheran Church in Fargo. In February 2023, we welcomed our son, Ambrose James “AJ” Dunkel! In my free time, I enjoy playing violin with the Fargo Moorhead Symphony Orchestra and other groups around town. I also love traveling, eating good food, and spending time with my family, including our cat Ellie.
